Hallaien is our very first series, and it's knitted in mistake rib. Mistake rib is an elastic structure that gives the garment a lovely fit that grows with the child.
We had never written patterns before and wanted to start with a structure that was both simple and beautiful. That’s how we landed on mistake rib — which is worked the same way on both right-side and wrong-side rows. Genius! The series includes this cardigan, as well as a romper and a onesie.
The Hallaien Cardigan is worked bottom-up with raglan decreases, and the sleeves are knitted in stockinette stitch.
The button bands and neckline are worked in one piece, shaping a gentle curve in the ribbing that fits short baby necks comfortably.
