This is Luddistrikk

We are two friends – Symra Joner and Maren Aabel – who met during medical school in Bergen - Norway, and bonded over a shared interest: knitting. When we started knitting in 2010, it was mostly Selbu mittens and traditional Norwegian sweaters. After both of us became aunts a few years later, we knitted a lot of baby clothes.

Now, as mothers of young children, we want to design our own knitting patterns based on our experiences as parents, focusing on the types of garments, fits, and details that work best. We aim to create knitwear with a good, roomy fit, often featuring stripes and lace knitting, and garments that are well-suited for playful babies and toddlers.

Luddi comes from the Bergen dialect word for clever, well thought out, pleasant, and fun – we hope you find our knitting patterns to be just that.

Frequently asked questions

How will I receive the pattern?

After payment, you will first receive an email with your payment confirmation. Shortly after, you will receive a second, separate email with a link to download the pattern in PDF format. You can download the PDF up to 10 times.

Note: If you don’t see the email in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder.

Can I become a test knitter?

Yes, you can! Follow our Instagram account, where we post requests for test knitting when we need it. We prioritize those who have a model in the chosen size to ensure the measurements and fit are correct. Otherwise, you must follow the pattern to the letter and provide feedback if something is incorrect or can be improved. We look forward to hearing from you!

Which new patterns are you working on

We always have many ideas and patterns in development—some further along than others. Right now, we are working on a thick striped sweater (Vidden) and a lightweight, easy-knit sweater, as well as several new pieces in the Raindrop series, including a romper and a bodysuit. We’re also designing a thick striped overall (Ulriken).

Additionally, we aim to create a coming-home set and a onesie with a gauge of 21-22 sts per 10 cm. As for the Christmas dress, it’s such a time-consuming project that it likely won’t be ready until 2026.

Are the patterns available in multiple languages?

All the patterns are available in English, and eventually we also want to offer our patterns in German and French.
