“Hallaien” is a Bergen-style hello – cheerful and warm, just like this onesie.
Hallaien is our very first series and is knitted in mistake rib. This technique creates a stretchy texture, giving the garment a comfortable fit that grows with the child.
We had never designed knitting patterns before and wanted to start with a simple yet beautiful texture. We discovered mistake rib, which could be knitted the same way on both RS and WS rows, brilliant! The series now includes a jacket, playsuit, and this onesie.
The Hallaien Onesie is knitted top-down, with picked-up stitches for the sleeves. The button bands and neckline are worked in one piece, creating a soft and comfortable curve in the ribbing to fit short baby necks.

Length neck-crotch: 30 (34) 38 (42) 46 (50) cm
Gauge: 33 sts x 48 rows = 10 x 10 cm on US 2½ (3 mm) needles in mistake rib st after washing and stretching.
Needle sizes: US 2½ (3 mm) circular needle. US 1½ (2,5 mm) and US 2½ (3 mm) DPNs.
